About the Kendra
History and Purpose
Dr. C. L. Prabhakar, Prof. and HOD of Department of Sanskrit (Retd.), National College, Jayanagar, founded the Kendra in 1994. The Kendra that started with 4 members today has more than 600 members across the world. The Kendra is also home to the Bangalore chapter of the World Association for Vedic Studies (WAVES).
Objectives of the Kendra
- To impart free training in recitation of Veda mantras and Veda suktas (Shanthi Mantras, Purusha Suktam, Sri Suktam, Narayana Suktam, Namakam, Chamakam, Mahanyasam, Mahanarayanopanishat, Mantrapushpam, Arunaprashnam, Navagraha Mantras, and others) useful for Nitya Karma Anushtana such as Sandhya Vandanam and Devatarchana, with explanations and Sanskrit basics for correct and meaningful recitation.
- To conduct lectures, lecture demonstrations, homas and cultural festivities related to Vedas, Astrology, Yoga, Religion, Music and Philosophy, including major utsavas such as Maha Shivaratri, Rama Navami, Ganesha Chaturti, Purandara-Tyagaraja-Dikshitar-Ramadasa-Annamacharya Aradhana, and Gita Jayanti.

- Department of Veda: Dr. C. L. Prabhakar, Director of the Kendra and President of WAVES Bangalore Chapter, heads this department.
- Department of Nada (Music): Dr. T. Seetharama Lakshmi heads this department. FREE training classes on Annamacharya Kirtanas are conducted every Saturday at 3:30 PM at Nada Veda Adhyayana Kendra, 206, 12th Cross, 20th Main, II Phase, J.P. Nagar, Bangalore-560078.
- The Annamacharya troupe led by Dr. T. Seetharama Lakshmi has performed at important venues in and around Bangalore. The troupe includes All India Radio violinist Ms. Surya Prabha, and classes are attended by more than 40 students and members.
- Department of Astrology: Dr. S. Krishnakumar and Sri L. Subramanyam.

Biographies of the Gurus
Dr. C. L. Prabhakar, M.A., Ph.D. (Vedic Studies) - Kendra Director, Department of Veda

Dr. C. L. Prabhakar is a Vedic scholar from Bangalore. He obtained his M.A. in Sanskrit from Dharwad University and Ph.D. on Sukla Yajur Veda from Poona University. He has over 30 years of teaching experience as a Professor and has published more than 300 research papers.
He has authored:

- Tapo Anustana Manjari: A compendium of Vedic Mantras for Daily Worship
- Soundarya Lahari Prayoga Yoga: A Manual
He is Chief Editor of the monthly bulletin Veda Nada Sarit and annual journal Veda Ganga, published by Veda Sruti Publications. He served as Faculty and Head of Sanskrit, National College, and is now Adjunct Professor of Vedas at Hindu University, USA. As Director of Nada Veda Adhyayana Kendra and President of WAVES Bangalore Chapter, he continues to spread Vedic knowledge in India and the USA.
Dr. T. Seetharama Lakshmi, M.A., Ph.D. (Carnatic Music) - Department of Music

Dr. T. Seetharama Lakshmi is a vocalist, violinist and musicologist from Kuchipudi, Andhra Pradesh. She obtained her M.A. in Music (Violin) and Ph.D. on the compositions of Tyagaraja and Purandaradasa from Bangalore University. She has over 30 years of teaching experience and has published more than 100 research papers.
She has authored:

- A Study of the Compositions of Tyagaraja and Purandaradasa
Both books were published by Veda Sruti Publications. She has guided doctoral candidates, served as Faculty of Music at Bangalore University, and as Principal of Hindupur Govt. College. At the Kendra, she teaches Carnatic vocal and violin, organizes Composers' Day events (Tyagaraja, Muthuswamy Dikshitar, Purandaradasa, Annamacharya, Ramadasu and others), and conducts annual music festivities for young artists.
